Judges Forum – The Young Professionals showed their civic involvement at our first-ever judicial forum. It was standing-room-only as both judicial candidates, Georgia Herrera and Gene Gasiorkiewicz, answered questions and gave the audience a better understanding of their philosophies for this important role. Thanks to the Radisson Harbourwalk and Chancery for sponsoring the event.
5:05 Club – A great mix of new YPR members and seasoned YPR veterans enjoyed networking at the Corner House for the monthly 5:05 Club. Owner John Kopulous treated YPR guests to a wine tasting and samples of his appetizer/bar menu including prime beef sandwiches!
Lunch and Learn – Whether you were born in 1974 or 1984 can make a big difference in your communication style. YPR members from both these decades (and more) came out to our February Lunch and Learn about Communicating Between Generations. We learned about the core values and characteristics of each generation as well as how to effectively communicate between generations.
Coffee and Tea Tasting – Members got their caffeine fix by trying a variety of coffees and teas from around the world at Cup of Hope. The tasting was followed by two discussions. The first highlighted the services the Hopes Center provides to homeless and low income people in Racine. The second told the “stories” and history of fair trade products. YPR members learned that if global sales of fair trade products increased by 1% next year, it would exceed the total development aid currently provided to the government of poor countries.
